Roots

What many people don’t know is that my ancestors on my grandmother’s side were Cherokee and Choctaw, while my grandfather’s family came from Scotland— Wallace Clan to be precise. They settled in the northwest corner of Nebraska in the 1800s and owned a ranch on piece of farmland. From there, they moved to Wyoming, and I was later born on a naval base in Ventura, California. I didn’t stay long, though—after I was born, my mother left the Navy, and we moved to Big Sky Montana.

My Creative Process

“I draw to release emotion — to let the things I notice, feel, and carry find a place outside of me. The world is always shifting, art becomes my anchor, my outlet, my way of transforming the chaos into color. Painting is the greatest gift I given myself: a space where emotion becomes expression, and where I can breathe again.”
